Fr. Jairo is appointed Pastor and Rector of the Basilica Shrine of Saint Mary in Wilmington, NC

July 11, 2024

We bid farewell to our beloved pastor, Very Rev. Jairo Alberto Maldonado-Pacheco, V.F., as he prepares to leave for a new assignment.  The Most Reverend Luis Rafael Zarama, Bishop of Raleigh, announced that effective June 24,  Fr. Jairo is appointed Pastor at the Basilica Shrine of Saint Mary in Wilmington, North Carolina.   Rev. Anit Augustine Jacob, M.S, will become the Parish Administrator of Saint Ann and All Souls Mission. Fr. Jairo will be missed, but we celebrate this new chapter in his priestly life.  We give thanks for the leadership he provided over the years in our parish and will continue to nurture the seeds he has planted.  As Fr. Jairo embarks on this new chapter in his faith journey, we pray that he will be blessed with renewed strength to continue God’s work in his new parish.

One word of advice: Come to a migrant mass. Even if you don’t feel called to volunteer in the ministry long term, just going will activate your missionary muscles, something that we as Catholics are so often unwilling to do. Doing so will be a rewarding experience and a great lesson in becoming an evangelizer.
